Cutting down the skeletons with aplomb (except for Hal, who discovers that the undead LIKE negative energy), they venture into the tomb to find several traps that have been modified to be less dangerous, supporting the idea that the villagers had planned this in fun. They investigate a wailing noise, and Myred subdues a hungry beetle the size of a minibike.
Our heroes find Roldare, one of the villagers, hiding in a storage room, confused and despondent. He relates, as best he can, how his friends were surprised by the undead and slaughtered. He remembers his sister being carried off alive, and believes she still survives within the tomb.
The group dives further into the crypt, retrieving two keys and fighting off a wooden golem protecting two shields. As soon as as Gideon manages to disable the golem, he disappears!
Perturbed by Gideon's disappearance, the group combs the rest of the level, but do not find him, although they do uncover a cache of awesome gear left behind by the villagers. They fight off more skeletons, and angry frogs that swallow Myred despite generous offers of wolf meat. Down in the second level, they discover a fountain hidden from the dangers of the tomb, and rest there, resolving to find Gideon (or his corpse) tomorrow. _________________ Thomas
